Blog feedback

April 7, 2008

I find that the blog has helped the learning process in lots of. I found that it really helped the learning process in the way that it made it so much easier to see what other people were doing throughout the year. I think that being given the chance to give, and get, regular feedback was really helpful on everybody’s part and it made it a lot easier to communicate with people in class as you were able to see what they had been doing beforehand. I also found it really helpful as there was a lot more talk of other topics, obviously relating to the course, but not to the actual work itself.

I wouldn’t really say that there were many disadvantages to submitting work on the blog, although I have found it to be quite slow at times which can be annoying. I’ve found as well that having to write some sort of report on the work that we submit has been quite challenging but nice in the sense that your able to me more critical of yourself and think about what you have done in a more thorough manner.

I have found it easier to access information that we have needed as well as I feel as if the blogs have given me a step up to things that I may not have necessarily looked at without them being posted. I also have found that the visual aspect of the blogs has been really helpful. I found WecCT to be quite sterile as a learning environment, the blogs are briliant as everyone can customize them and make them much more interesting to look at, even using pictures on a post helps out.

Overall, I’ve found the use of the blog has helped out a lot, I just wish that I had been more up to date with it all.

Earcons in Japan!

February 2, 2008

Hi There guys!

I hope all is well! This is only something silly but I thought that it would be interesting to mention! I was just reading about earcons for acousmatics and I came across a link on someones blog that has some simple midi versions of tunes, or earcons, that are played on Japanese trains as icons to what station you are arriving at. I just thought it was quite cool that they do stuff like this in Japan, it would make anybodies journey seem happier! This is the link:

I saw an interview with Bjork in a magazine recently and she talked about the use of this new interface that she had been using. It is called the reactable and it looks amazing. I found this video on you tube. I have no idea how it works but it is incredible! Check it out!

This is my blog for 2nd year Creative Music Technology at Anglia Ruskin University. Each of the pages feature work from the modules that I am taking for the first semester of this year. I will post my work in progress and my finished work and I shall also post things that I find interesting and worth a look at along the way. I hope that you enjoy it. Any Feedback would be extremely helpful.
